On his first day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reimagine” the metropolis, promising “a fresh chapter” and an audacious commencement to his tenure.

The young political star, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first Muslim mayor. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
